Tyler Potzler
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, EMDR Trained Therapist

I pride myself on not being a therapeutic “robot.” I bring myself into each session as a human with an emotional response and sincere engagement, ready to connect with every client. Trauma impacts all of us, and our response to trauma displays itself in unique ways to each person and family system. I work to understand the context of each client and help them recognize how trauma shapes their lives and relationships; then, we work to process, integrate, and heal their experiences.
SPECIALTIES:
• Complex trauma (C-PTSD) • Couples therapy • EMDR, Somatic, IFS, Ego-State therapy • Dissociative & attachment disorders
I use a psychodynamic and attachment-focused framework to help clients recognize complex trauma and attachment injury in their lives, which shapes how we interact with others and is often responsible for the things we don’t like about ourselves. Anxiety and depression, ongoing relationship problems, and dissociation can all be the results of underlying trauma and attachment injury. Generally, I work with couples, parents, and individuals 16 years and older. I always recommend in-person therapy whenever possible, especially for couples. However, I will work with you to accommodate telehealth if necessary.
Education and Certifications
- International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT)
- EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)
- International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)

Life’s conflicts and transitions can leave us feeling disconnected from our emotions and caught in cycles that no longer serve us. In therapy, I offer a safe and genuine space to slow down, reconnect, and make sense of your experiences. My approach is grounded in humanistic and existential values—I believe growth comes through
dialogue, presence and support. I bring curiosity, openness, and cultural awareness to my work. Together we will explore not just “symptoms,” but the deeper questions of meaning, connection, and identity that shape your life. My background includes supporting people through anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I also work closely with attachment patterns in both individual and couples therapy, as well as the impact of systemic oppression and cultural
identity.
SPECIALTIES:
• Anxiety • Depression • Trauma & PTSD • Life Transitions • Attachment Styles & Couples Counseling • Neurofeedback • Systemic Oppression related to race and culture
I bring experience from both Turkey and Seattle, in institutional and community-based settings, and I’m bilingual in English and Turkish. My practice welcomes individuals and couples, in person or online. I also provide neurofeedback, as an adjunct to talk therapy, supporting healthier brain patterns. Rather than trying to “fix” feelings, we’ll work on understanding and accepting them as part of your unique story and you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we can uncover the strength, resilience, and meaning already present in your life.

Michaela Wykes
Intake Coordinator

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming and even a little scary at times. It’s completely natural to wonder where to begin or what to expect. I am here to share information about our current availability, walk you through the intake process, and discuss how to utilize your insurance benefits. Based on your information, I can also help you decide which practitioner is going to best suit your needs.
