Our Specialized Approaches to Healing and Growth
Trauma Treatment
What Is Trauma?
Trauma can be defined as a psychological, emotional response to an event or an experience that is deeply distressing. Survivors of trauma can be left with feelings of anger, shame, isolation, and despair.
PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) can develop after exposure to an intensely traumatic event. You may feel guilt or responsibility for the event, and even hopelessness. Anyone can experience trauma, regardless of race, gender, economic status, or religious background.
How Do I Begin Counseling?
Trauma therapy can help reduce fear and anxiety, build trust within yourself and others, and offer validation and perspective to your experiences. With treatment, you can begin to recover from trauma and feel safe again.
Hypnosis Treatment
What Is Hypnosis Therapy?
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation that allows subjects to explore their inner thoughts and memories with a heightened focus. Hypnosis therapy is the controlled induction of hypnosis by a licensed professional. This form of therapy can be effective in helping people cope with trauma, stress, phobias and anxiety. The conscious is the practical, logical side of our mind. Sometimes experiences in the subconscious can begin to have a negative effect. With hypnotherapy, it is possible to release those limiting feelings and find solutions. It is a powerful therapy for personal development and reaching goals around habits and daily behaviors. Hypnotherapy is totally unique from any other therapy because it works directly with the subconscious mind, which will only accept beneficial suggestions.
Is Hypnosis Safe?
There is a common myth that hypnosis is unsafe, even dangerous. Hypnosis therapy is safe for anyone looking to improve maladaptive habits or thought patterns. No one has ever been harmed while being in a hypnotic state with a licensed therapist.
Couples Therapy
What Does Couples Therapy Look Like?
Couples therapy is a chance for you and your partner to reconnect, rebuild trust, and support one another. During the first session, expect to discuss the history of your relationship distress. The therapist will want to know the main problems you are experiencing, and what causes the most stress within your relationship.
Some aspects of relationship stress that may be discussed include parenting conflicts, intimacy issues, and communication issues. It is essential to be open and honest about your relationship history with your therapist because it is the basis for setting goals in counseling.
How Do I Get Started?
Starting couples therapy can be an overwhelming and vulnerable experience. Our team is here to make sure you feel supported and seen throughout your journey. Please give us a call or contact us at our Marysville office to learn more about our current availability for couples.
EMDR Therapy
What Is EMDR Therapy?
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy intended for treating the painful psychological effects of traumatic experiences. For some, this may come in the form of depression, anxiety, avoidance, and, most notably, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR helps individuals “reprocess” painful or scary experiences by employing the brain’s natural tendency to heal and recover through bilateral stimulation. This might be eye movements, tapping, or audio input. Then, the body can properly store and integrate the experience into long-term memory, relieving the side effects. EMDR therapy is extensively researched and a proven method in treating trauma. Learn more about EMDR and its history here.

Tyler Potzler is an EMDR therapist trained by Paula Merucci, LCSW. He is currently accepting new clients at Fountaingate Wellness. Please visit our Contact page to get in touch.
What Can I Expect From the EMDR Process?
EMDR is an 8-phase process that requires assessment, background, and foundational work before the “desensitization phase.” The length of these stages varies depending on the individual and helps determine if EMDR is right for you. Think of it like open-heart surgery—no competent surgeon would begin without fully understanding the patient’s history and readiness. EMDR is not usually a quick, one- or two-session process, though some clients may process a singular event quickly. Together with your therapist, you’ll establish a “target memory,” build rapport, and be guided through the process. While there is no set timeline, EMDR often takes 6–12 sessions but may be shorter or longer depending on complexity. A single EMDR session can sometimes feel as impactful as several talk therapy sessions due to its intensity, but results vary based on individual needs. Learn more about EMDR at EMDRIA.

Life Coaching & Professional Consultation
What Is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a process that a life coach (wellness professional) implements to transform someone’s life according to their goals. Basically, a life coach works with their client to help them achieve desired professional and personal goals, and generally improve the self-fulfillment levels of the coachee.
What Does a Life Coach Do?
- Helps to identify or clarify goals
- Understand the root of the issues and break the circles of bad habits, events, etc.
- Guides clients toward finding the solutions to overcome obstacles that hold them back
- Ensures that they teach the client “how to fish” – giving them the tools to overcome problems on their own
- Develop skills that encourage long-term change
A life coach will also contribute to the client’s better work-life balance, eliminate fears and anxieties and trigger the client’s creativity. Most importantly, a huge amount of work will be done in working with the client’s subconsciousness and mindset change. The difference between life coaching and therapy is that life coaches cannot treat mental health conditions. Also, a life coach does not need formal education or a degree to be one. However, it is vital to be a professional as you are going to work with people and their lives. So, first of all, get educated on coaching methodologies, choose your niche and practice a lot.
